WHAT IS DIMENSION ?

Its confusing, yes , I know. Dimension simply means direction. But has small difference.

So what is dimension?

→ Dimension is nothing but types of direction in particular space you can go. Now, you can think we live in 3D ,i.e., In 3 dimension. but we can go ∞ ways from a given point. Yes, that’s true , but look, I have written types of ways we can go.

So, what is meant by “TYPES OF WAYS”? Simply, it is meant that→in case of 3D we can go “forward or backward” , “right or left” and “upward and downward”. Then, where are the other directions? I mean, we can both go upward and right transversely. But here you have to think that it is a combination of two ‘types of directions’. I.E. , you can break that direction to 3 FUNDAMENTAL DIRECTIONS, usually said to be X, Y &Z direction . Now, a space of nD ie n dimension has n no. of Fundamental Direction. This is the basic concept you have to remember.

POINT TO BE NOTED: here n must be a real and positive number or integer.

MISCONCEPTION: Some people have seen movies like Doctor Strange of Marvel, other cinemas from it, or may have read the comics or story related to multi dimensional travel or different dimensions.

Usually wrong terms is used here. As example “ Dormammu is from the Dark Dimension”

Here Dark Dimension is a fictional term not meaning that the dimension is dark. It actually means that the universe or world or reality is said to be dark and to go there we need higher dimension. You will get clear concept next .Dimension is not a term denoting a different world or specific world etc. We cannot say that universe is this dimension or Peter Parker Noir is from another dimension. This are the terms which will confuse you. Actually I think this were written in misconception also. Dimension is simply direction. Not any fictional thinking of another world or etc. like this. But do not loose hope… there are several worlds and realities actually exists and can be explained with higher dimension physics. So the stories can be true. But, the terms were wrongly used

Dimensions are fundamental ways with which all ways of all directions can be denoted or separated. It is considered that there are several different kinds of space of different dimension. We live in a 3Dal (3 dimensional) space. It means all directions of our space can be separated by only 3 unique directions .We say them as x ,y &z. Thus a space with least ways with which all directions in that particular space can be separated or explained is called Fundamental Ways. And the number of fundamental ways in that particular is called dimension no. or DN. Let the DN be n. Hence, the space is nDal(n Dimensional). So a space is n dimensional with having n numbes of fundamental ways.
